Week 90: Elder Anderson--"Focus on the Atonement"

Hey guys!! Wow what a great week. Time just doesn’t want to slow down. Can’t believe how fast time is going by. Well we had a great week. It was quite a crazy week being a trio and trying to cover 2 areas. But thanks to the members we were able to make it work. From also doing divisions it was quite a busy week. We were so worn out by the end of the week, that I almost fell asleep mid- sentence in a lesson. The heat and the sun just pull out all of your energy. This next week are changes. Not sure what will happen. One of our investigators will be being baptized this Saturday. Her name is Lesly and she has been progressing very quickly. She is a single mother and she has given us a lot of references. 

The brothers of one of our recent converts had a change of heart. One of them said the most heart felt prayer and asked for forgiveness. He has the goal to read 3 chapters in the BOM and wanted to visit with us. They went to church on Sunday. The example of their older brother paid off and has been having a huge impact on their progress. What a mighty change of heart. They will be baptized in April.  The family that I told you guys last week is doing really awesome. The husband has been in prayer and fasting yesterday so maybe trying to receive an answer of the things we have taught him. We are so excited for them!!

Now the thing you guys have been waiting for the visit of Elder Andersen. Wow what an amazing experience. We had the opportunity to listen to Elder Deans from the presiding bishopric, Elder Maynes from the presidency of the seventy, Elder Vallardares area 70 of Honduras, Elder Ochoa, and Elder Andersen, President Klein and the other mission president and their wives. It was definitely a spiritual flood on Saturday. The part that was actually the most powerful to me was the talk given by Elder Andersen’s wife who testified with power and authority about her husbands calling. She stated that every time he speaks she learns something new. Everyone spoke in Spanish except for Elder Andersen’s wife who spoke in English who was asked to speak in English by her husband. He did state that she also speaks very good Spanish. Elder Andersen speaks pretty well, it was pretty difficult for him because he kept saying words in Portuguese but he gave a great talk. He spoke of the atonement and the importance to teach people about that topic. He said that we are here to change hearts, not only to baptize people. He said that by teaching about the Atonement, hearts will be changed and people will stay in the church. He invited us all to memorize 10 scriptures on the atonement; that can be used when needed. We have started to put in practice teaching the atonement and there is such a strong spirit that is present. The spirit was so strong with Elder Andersen. In fact at the beginning we were able to shake all of their hands, which was a great blessing. I was a great experience for all of us and oh how I am grateful for prophets and apostles. What hope and faith they bless us with. 

Another interesting thing, a member brought us Subway the other day. ya 1st subway sandwich that I have had in 2 years. It was fantastic!!!
