Hey yall! Ok seriously another week has gone by. Where does the time
go? What a crazy, awesome, and busy week. This past week was full of success
and full of lessons learned. One of the many lessons that I have learned with
Elder Montenegro is that God is no respecter of persons and neither should we.
It doesn’t matter what they look like, where they live, or what they do, they
are children of God and our brothers and sisters and they need what we have. Everyone
has someone that loves them, it doesn’t matter who they are or what they do
there is always someone that loves them and that is our Heavenly Father. I feel
so privileged to be called to represent Him as we are able to teach His
children. We have found so many people and have absolutely no time to teach
them all. It’s interesting because we really haven’t done any sort of big
contacting, just talking to everyone and really focusing on loving those around
us, and people have just appeared. People that we never expected to progress
are progressing very quickly and are going to church and making sacrifices in
their lives to follow God.
We had a little bad note in the week when we learned that a couple
that is preparing to be married and baptized this month that the wife is from
Galaco Olancho, or about 6 hours away. They don’t have much, and when we
learned that she had to go out there to pull out her papers we were a little disappointed.
When we told them they quickly said well, we will be going next week to get the
papers. They are moving forward with faith and taught us that nothing is impossible
to those who have faith. Slowly but surely God has been preparing the way for
them to make it out there to get the papers.
We are teaching a single mom and her children who have been taking
big steps of faith. She makes tortillas and had made many sacrifices to be able
to attend church. Her and her husband separated a couple months back because he
started to have another lady. But he comes and visits the family quite often.
Yesterday we had an amazing lesson with the whole family including the husband
as we watched the video about John Tanner. At the end we invited the whole
family to continue making changes and talked to the husband about making
changes and fighting for his family. We told him he could change. The Spirit
touched his heart and when he offered the closing prayer he broke down crying
and pleading for help. It was one of the most touching experiences to watch a
large strong man break down and recognize his weaknesses and plead for help. We
hope that this family can be restored, and he has begun a long road to
recovery.
One of our recent converts here just received the calling to be 2nd counselor
in the Young Women’s. She has 4 months of being a member and has yet to miss a
Sunday. This past week we finally were able to help one of our recent converts
who was a little inactive return to church. He hasn’t been for 4 months and
went yesterday. It was a miracle week, many of our investigators are progressing and
we have absolutely no time. hahaha well last night we didn’t sleep at all
because we had to come to San Pedro to renew my residence, kind of sad because
that was the last time I had to do it. Tomorrow we have our leadership council
so we are going to stay here in Lima today. My comp and me slept about 3 hours
in the bus and that’s what we are running off of. I took a bunch of pictures
this past week and I will send them to you next week. The computers here are a
little sketchy.
