Week 59: When it Rains...

hooooiiiiii! How is everyone? Great to hear from everyone especially to hear that mom won the tennis tournament! Sounds like everyone is doing well and I loved the pictures. Sorry, every morning we have to send stats to the APs so we are on for about 20 mins or so, then in the afternoon we write. Well today we didn’t do much, woke up, went to the gym (ya there’s a gym here!) and then played soccer with some of the elders and sisters from the zone. It has been a wet week here and when it rains it pours. The roads here literally turn into rivers. I have pictures. So awesome to hear about all of the people that have their calls and are in the field. The mission has been growing. This past week we had interviews with President Klein and he told us that 20 new missionaries would be coming this next change and only 1 leaving. Also the APs came and I did divisions with Elder Holden, from St. George, who is going home in about a week now. 

 

When it rains, the roads turn into little rivers...

This past week me and my companion have been having some really awesome studies. We both have been studying the life of Jesus Christ and we have been learning so much together. It has really strengthened us and has helped us to be united and to teach with the Spirit. This past week was full of miracles. This area has just been full of miracles! This past week and the week before that we have had 13 and 14 investigators in church.  It is crazy how sincere the people are here; they are very willing. 

We found a family about a couple of weeks ago that live right in front of the church, like right across the street. They were one of the first houses we contacted here in the area and we have been able to visit them. It is a family of 4, the husband, wife, and their 2 daughters. He is a lawyer and she works with him, they are married, don’t go to any church, have never spoken with missionaries but have also had questions and have wanted to. We started visiting them, but it has been hard trying to adjust with their schedule. But yesterday we found the whole family at home and were able to teach our first lesson. We taught the Restoration, and the spirit was so strong there. They had so many questions, which every missionary loves! And listened to us. We had left a couple of pamphlets before which the husband read them all and explained everything to us perfectly. By the end of the lesson you could tell that they had been touched, the Spirit was so strong. The whole family at that moment promised us that they would be in church next Sunday. The husband has a farm with cows and because he barely has time goes every Sunday early morning to check on his cows. But he told us not this Sunday, he and his family are going to church. For almost 5 years they have lived right in front of the church and have never spoken to missionaries. I know that they felt the Spirit and I hope that they will be willing to follow it. 

 

Super hot this week...110 degrees

Probably one of the most special things this past week was the opportunity to see the blessings the Gospel brings to families. We are teaching a lady and her 3 children who showed up to church 3 Sundays ago. They are getting baptized this Saturday. The lady has read in 2 weeks all the way to 2 Nephi 4. She and her children have gone to about every activity in church, by themselves. They just look like members. On Saturday her family and we watched the Restoration in the church in the morning. As we walked to the church she talked to us about what she has been reading. She told us about Nephi and how he was tied up and so on. What an amazing family. The Lord is surely preparing more people.

 

Baptism with the Sister Missionaries!

When I was in Coyoles we contacted a man who was selling fruit or something to one of our investigators. He lived in Tocoa and had heard a lot about the church. We talked with him for a while and taught him a lesson and took down his information and he left. Me and my companion thought for sure that he had been prepared. About 4 days ago as we were walking we saw that man in a pulperia here. As we approached he recognized me and I recognized him. He was so happy to see us. He told us about his life and how he has moved here now. So excited that the Lord lead him to us.

Well I have pictures and hope everyone is doing well. Love you guys and tell Grandma thanks for her letter. She is always so faithful at sending me letters and I thank her for that. Hope Grandpa is doing all right. Well I sure do love you guys and hope you guys have a great week this week!
