Hey family! What’s up? Sounds like everyone is doing great and
happy to hear that Grandpa is doing well. Pretty knarley that skin graft that
they did. Crazy how everyone is going on their missions cuz it feels like I
just started! Crazy how fast time goes by, so tell them to enjoy it because it
goes by.... fast!
Anyways, this past week was truly a special one for my companion and
I. We had a baptism of a lady who has been investigating the church for about a
year. We used the sister missionaries to help her and because of them she got
baptized. But it was really awesome, she also got up and bore her testimony and
expressed how grateful she was to be baptized. It was really awesome. I told
you last week of a lady and her family that were invited to church by a friend.
We went and visited her and her family with a man in our ward and I have never
met someone so prepared to receive the gospel like this lady. We gave her the
Restoration pamphlet in church and when we showed up on Tuesday she had read
all of it. We asked her some questions about it and she knew all of it. We
taught the lesson again and then challenged her to baptism and she looked at us
and said yes. We told her we were preparing a baptism date for the 16th of this
month and she accepted without a problem. The member then told her that her 8 yr.
old daughter could also be baptized and this lady looked at her daughter and
told her that she will be baptized with her. After the lesson I had to pull my
jaw off of the floor in shook about how prepared this lady and her family are.
As we were walking away with the member who is a convert of 8 yrs., we asked
him what he thought of the lesson. He looked at us and said, The chosen exist.
This is truly God’s work, He is at the head and He controls His work. He
prepares the hearts of His children and if we are in tune with His spirit and
are willing to act He will guide us to them. That lesson we had was incredibly
easy, everything we said she understood. She and her family were also able to
come with us to the baptism we had and after our gospel principles class
yesterday when we showed her the baptism font she told us that she was ready
and excited to be baptized.
Yesterday was also full of miracles, when we showed up to church we
found out that a recent convert had invited one of her friends and an
investigator that we took to church also invited one of his friends. Isn’t it
just awesome to be able to be apart of this Work! We also had the opportunity
to find many other people that have been prepared by the Lord. It truly is
a miracle and a privilege to be able to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and help
others come unto Him. He has a work for us to do that is for sure and many
times it seems like that we will not be able to get it all done, but we always
do. I am so grateful to be able to serve Him. It’s hard to know what to talk
about because there is so much going on.
There is a phrase that people say here that has actually gotten on
my nerves, the phrase, “someday”. It is kind of funny how they use it, like “someday
I will go to church”, “someday I will do that” and the list goes on and on. It
is interesting how the Lord never uses that phrase, someday, He always talks
about the day. “The day of our repentance, of our salvation, the day of His
coming”. It really worries me when the people here say some day, and if it is
worrying to me I can only imagine how our Heavenly Father feels. His love is
perfect and we can be perfected in Him, if we keep His commandments today. Our
salvation is won each and everyday, by improving a little here and a little
there, each and everyday doing our best. I read an interesting phrase this past
week while studying about enduring. It said that enduring is not about getting
to eternal life but about staying there, keeping our thoughts, goals and
actions always pointed to eternal life.
