Well another week has gone by and it was a pretty difficult one. It
has been pretty hot as always and we have been trying our best here in Coyoles.
The funniest thing here is that we live in a banana farm town but there are no
ripe bananas, only green bananas. Don’t know if I have told you this or not but
the main food here in Honduras is green bananas, they cut them up and fry them
and they are like potato chips. They also boil them, which is like a potato.
After eating about a million green bananas here in my mission they have gotten
a little old especially because that is the only thing they eat here. Oh and
something else pretty funny, we have quite a bit of investigators that have
cows so they give us milk straight from the cow (don’t worry they boil it
before). It sometimes is a little hard to get down with beans and tortillas.
hahaha thought mom would like that, living the farm life—Honduras style. Oh and
happy fathers day dad! Hope you had a great fathers day!
Anyways this past week, we had some really amazing experiences.
First and foremost we had a baptism this past Saturday. His name is Frank and
is a 16 years old. He met the missionaries in May and really liked the church.
His neighbors are members and started taking him to church. He made the
decision to be baptized and now is really excited to serve a mission.

More than anything the biggest miracle came yesterday while we were
in church. We showed up a little late because we took some people to church.
Basically our whole area is about a bus ride away, so for the majority of our
investigators they have to take a bus to get to church. While we were there we
turned around to see 4 investigators who we have had one lesson with come
walking in the church for the first time. After sacrament meeting and during
our gospel principles class one of our investigators that were there for the
first time told us how her daughter wanted to come. She told us that her
daughter has felt that she has found the church that she wants to join. It was
a true miracle to see so many people make those kind of sacrifices to be able
to come to church and opening their hearts to the truth.
We have been trying our best, trying to keep our heads up and keep
moving forward. Despite the many challenges that we are facing here, we are
still in His work and His work cannot be stopped.
The thing that has really impacted me this past week has come from
some of the most precious chapters in the Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 11-19 where
Jesus Christ himself ministers among the Nephites. It really has made me think
and reflect on what it must have been like to been ministered personally by
Jesus Christ. What must it have been like to hear Him pray, watch Him heal, and
see His smile? It really touched me, truly the primary song, if the Savior
stood beside me, has a powerful message. If we always remember Christ in our
lives and ask ourselves what would Christ do? We will be able to make the right
choices.
Love you guys and hope that you guys can also follow Christ’s
example throughout this week. If we always look towards Christ and try to do
what He would do, we will always be lead to do what is right.
Happy fathers day dad! Hope you had a great one. Just wanted also to
tell you how much I love you and how much I appreciate your support. More than
anything I am grateful for your example and the things you taught me. It has
helped me throughout my mission and has helped many lives. Your constant
diligence in fulfilling your callings in church and in our family has been such
a great example to me. I really am proud to call you my dad. Thanks dad for
everything. I love you dad.
| It took about 3-4 hours to fill this baptism font and then they had to empty it with buckets. Needless to say, I think Kaden got his workout in that day! |
Love you guys and hope that you guys have a great week this week. I
have some pictures that I am going to send you.
Love you guys
Elder Neuberger
